September 2022 Embrace Change

As the summer starts to come to an end we can reflect and ponder on the warm summer months. September means change for a lot of us. Sometimes it's working more, working less, activities change, routines change and so much more. Change itself is inevitable. Things are always changing. However change can impact our nervous system, sometimes we are anxious about change sometimes we are excited. Sometimes we are anxious when things are NOT changing.

Everyone is on their own journey I personally encourage my clients to embrace the change.

Even if you embrace the change it can still be hard! Here are some tips to help you when you are having changes in your life that lead you to some discomfort.


Mindfulness Tips for Embracing Change

With mindfulness, you can learn to react to uncertainty with acceptance and become more aware of what is actually taking place—your emotions and reactions included. This type of acknowledgment and acceptance allows you to adapt more quickly to shifting conditions.

  • Acceptance- change is a part of life. Sometimes most of our anxiety comes from the resistance to change. By reinforcing the concept that change is inevitable, you can adapt to future changes with a more flexible mindset being open to what is coming into your life.

  • Examine your beliefs- How do you perceive change? Do you label it "good" or "bad" Your response to change always starts with a series of thoughts and emotions, are these rooted in the past or the present? Observing your thoughts, journaling, and being with your shadow can help you decide if these beliefs still serve you, and if not, began to allow yourself to let them go.

  • Practice Meditation- Meditation is a great support tool. It will not only help you on your journey of change, but it will also help you find a place of acceptance in all things. If meditation overwhelms you notice that. You can start with 10 minutes a week if you want! Let your mind and body see and feel without judgment, and practice just being an observer of your thoughts.

This group is based on the principles of holistic psychotherapy. You will learn a variety of healing modalities including Mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy, EFT (emotional freedom technique), Guided Meditation, and solution-focused interventions while lowering your stress level and increasing your self-care to reach a new level of awareness.
