A Lifeline for New Parents and Small Businesses

Becoming a new parent is often described as magical, but in reality it can be just as overwhelming. We are told to cherish every moment, yet many parents are navigating sleepless nights, financial stress, and for some, the weight of postpartum depression. At the same time, society expects us to work like we don’t have children, and raise children like we don’t have jobs.

For me, this reality became very clear when I left a secure government position to launch my practice—only to discover I was pregnant again. Suddenly, I had no safety net, no plan for paid time off, and no idea how I would balance it all. That changed when I found Connecticut Paid Leave. It allowed me to focus on my recovery, bond with my baby, and share the early months of parenthood with my husband—without the constant fear of financial strain.
