Elena Maturo is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who works with adolescents and adults in individual therapy. She earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sacred Heart University and brings a thoughtful, trauma informed, and person centered approach to her work.
Elena supports clients navigating anxiety, depression, mood instability, life transitions, and grief or loss. Her work is grounded in the belief that healing happens most effectively when the mind and body are understood as deeply connected. She creates a calm and steady therapeutic space where clients can feel safe, supported, and truly heard.
Elena integrates mindfulness and mind body awareness with evidence based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She helps clients better understand their internal experiences, identify unhelpful thought and behavior patterns, and develop practical skills for managing stress and overwhelming emotions.
Using DBT informed strategies, Elena supports clients in building emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness skills. She works with clients to stay present during difficult moments, communicate more effectively in relationships, and respond to challenges with greater intention rather than reactivity.
Elena believes therapy is not just about talking through problems, but about learning how to feel more grounded, safe, and connected within yourself. Sessions may include mindfulness practices, grounding techniques, and skill building exercises that clients can apply in daily life to support long term change.
With prior experience in the mental health field, Elena is comfortable supporting clients during periods of high emotional distress while maintaining a compassionate and steady presence. She values collaboration and works at a pace that feels respectful, supportive, and aligned with each individual’s needs.
