Kara Harte

LMFT

Kara Harte is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who is passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families as they navigate life’s challenges and deepen their understanding of themselves and their relationships. She believes that choosing to begin therapy is a meaningful step toward growth and healing, and she is committed to creating a space where clients feel safe, supported, and truly heard.

Kara’s Approach to Therapy

Kara earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Central Connecticut State University and has been working in the mental health field since 2016. She brings experience working with adolescents, young adults, couples, and families across a range of clinical settings. Kara primarily works with adolescents (ages 14–18), as well as young adults and couples, supporting them through challenges related to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relational conflict, life transitions, and identity development, including within the LGBTQ+ community.

Her approach is warm, authentic, and collaborative, grounded in systemic and relational therapy. Kara views therapy through the lens that our relationships and environments shape our experiences, and she works with clients to better understand these dynamics while building healthier patterns of connection. She creates a nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and relationships with openness and curiosity.

Kara integrates a variety of evidence-based modalities into her work, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, Solution-Focused Therapy, and attachment-based approaches. She also incorporates techniques from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method when working with couples. In addition, Kara utilizes mindfulness practices and creative, experiential interventions to help clients build coping skills, strengthen emotional awareness, and foster meaningful change.

She believes that therapy is most effective when it balances insight with practical tools. Kara works collaboratively with her clients to identify goals, develop new perspectives, and create strategies that feel both supportive and sustainable. Her goal is to help clients feel more confident, connected, and empowered in their lives and relationships.

Kara is especially passionate about supporting individuals and couples navigating relationship challenges, conflict, self-esteem concerns, postpartum transitions, and symptoms of anxiety and depression. She is dedicated to ongoing learning and professional growth, continually expanding her skills to best support the evolving needs of her clients.
