Spring, Growth & New Beginnings
By Samantha Alzate, LCSW
My baby just turned one this month.
One whole year of midnight feedings, endless snuggles, and watching him discover the world. It’s been beautiful—and also, it’s been a lot. Postpartum, again, at this stage of life, has felt like walking through fog and sunlight at the same time. Joy and exhaustion have lived side by side in my body for months.
And as a mom of three, this winter felt never-ending.
Between the colds, the flus, the daycare germs, the school germs, and what felt like an endless cycle of someone always being sick—it was a season of survival mode. I know so many parents out there can relate. There were moments I felt like we were just barely holding it together. And now, as April rolls in, I’m starting to feel the tiniest bit of breathing room. The tiniest opening.
I’ve always believed spring invites us into a new version of ourselves.
For me, these milestones—like my baby turning one—crack something open. They create space to heal, to reflect, to grow. And I know that feeling doesn’t just belong to me.
You might be feeling it too.
There’s also no denying that the world has been heavy lately.
From ongoing political tensions, wars overseas, and uncertainty in our economy—to the quiet, personal things we don’t always talk about, like parenting in a digital age, burnout, grief, or simply feeling off—there’s been a collective weight many of us are carrying. You might not be able to name exactly what feels hard, but your nervous system knows. And it’s okay to admit that you’re tired.
At Mindful Transformations, therapy is always about you. Your story, your healing, your goals. But some of our clients find it helpful to know—we’re human too. I’m human too. And the last year? It’s been a lot.
Right now, things still feel intense in many ways—for so many of us. Whether it’s motherhood, identity shifts, work stress, relationships, or just the wear and tear of constantly holding it all together… we all reach points when we need support. When we feel the urge to shed old layers and imagine something different for ourselves.
And that’s what spring can offer.
I find myself saying this often lately: we all have seasons. As I support the therapists who are holding space for you—our community—I’m always reminding them (and myself) that we don’t have to bloom all the time. Sometimes, we’re still thawing. Sometimes, we’re rebuilding. Sometimes, we’re just catching our breath.
And that’s okay.
If you’re feeling the shift that spring brings and you’re ready to explore what’s next—for your healing, your goals, your future self—we’re here. Whether you’re returning to therapy or starting for the first time, this season is a beautiful place to begin.
Let’s grow something new together.
Warmly,
Samantha Alzate, LCSW
